WILDWOOD FLOWER broke clean and stalked the pace from the rail to the middle of the turn, shifted off the rail and rallied to the stretch, continued to respond, took over inside the eighth pole and drove clear late. SIBERIAN SHAMROCK drifted in after the start tightening things up inside of her, set the pace to the stretch, responded to mid stretch then was caught but held the place. STRIKING COBRA broke in a tangle then was hustled after recovering, pressed the pace two wide to the stretch then lacked the needed late response. MELBA JEWEL bumped with DISMISSEDHERTOUCH at the start then was forced inward by SIBERIAN SHAMROCK, settled off the pace, raced three wide to the stretch but came up empty in the drive. AMANDA LYNN came out slightly soon after the start and had her heels clipped by DISMISSEDHERTOUCH, settled to the turn, raced three wide to the stretch but lacked a response. DISMISSEDHERTOUCH was squeezed between AMANDA LYNN and MELBA JEWEL at the start then was cut off when MELBA JEWEL was forced inward by SIBERIAN SHAMROCK, clipped heels with AMANDA LYNN, stumbled and was not a factor. A steward's inquiry into the start of the race determined that SIBERIAN SHAMROCK had drifted inward causing interference and she was disqualified and placed last.

TONCO prompted the pace to the second turn, responded to urging and set out after the leader to the stretch, got to terms in mid stretch, gamely responded to left handed urging, was briefly in front late but was caught and dead heated with QUAKE. The latter tracked behind rivals while saving ground, remained under a snug hold to the far turn, tried to rally but was caught without room into the stretch, had a narrow opening to mid stretch but that was tightened up when SANGER came out slightly but gamely surged between rivals to tie TONCO on the line. SANGER rated on the front end to the second turn, responded when asked for speed into the stretch, dug in under right handed urging, came out slightly in deep stretch then was overtaken late. WOODY HAZE stalked the leaders to the second turn, bid three wide to the stretch, almost got to terms leaving the eighth pole then stayed on to deep stretch but was outfinished. CLASSIC FOOL had no speed, came three wide to the stretch and made up a bit of ground late.

THE FUZZ broke cleanly then stumbled sharply and fell back, saved ground on the turn and closed some ground late. PURELY SPECIAL raced unhurried early from the outside, remained four wide on the turn but did not rally. WAY SEXY prompted the winner to the stretch and gave out. CARIBEAN BOY stalked the winner three wide to mid turn and came up empty. AMERICAN FABLE had no speed. CHEROKEE CHARLIE flashed speed from the rail to the turn and slackened.
